Definition: Freedom to be creative under the protection of divinely appointed authority.


Scripture: II Corinthians 10:5 – Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.

Teaching Obedience in the Home:

  • Teaching children why an activity is right or wrong
  • Establishing practical guidelines of good character for the whole family
  • Children understanding the purpose of guidelines and the consequences of failing to obey them
  • Parent being a godly and obedient role model


Applying Obedience:

  • Obeying those in authority right away
  • Having a cheering attitude
  • Not complaining
  • Completing all that is expected
  • Going the extra mile


Rewards of Obedience:

  •  Protection for you and those around you: Obedience protects us from repeating painful mistakes that was made in the past
  •  Provision: Parents love to reward obedient children  by giving to needs and wants
  • Direction: Being obedient to God’s Word provides the wisest counsel for the decisions one faces.


Consequences of not being Obedient:

  • Broken relationships
  • Shame
  • Guilt
  • Separation from God
